Printing

All IT Computer Labs are configured to print to the Library's printer system. Print jobs can be sent to the 24-hour lab (Schulz, 1st floor south) or Library Information Commons (Schulz, 1st floor north). Visit the Library's Computing page for instructions.

Wireless Printing in the 24hr Lab

Wireless printing from a personal laptop is available only in the 24hr Lab. Choose your Operating System below for complete instructions.

Mac OS

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Select Printers & Scanners
  3. Add a printer (+)
  4. If locked, click the lock icon on the bottom left
  5. Choose the IP option
  6. Fill in the fields with the following info:
    • Address: ssuprint.sonoma.edu
    • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
    • Queue: Laptop24q
    • Name: SSU 24hr Printer
    • Location: 24 Hour Lab
    • Print Using: Generic Postscript Printer
  7. Select Add
  8. Print document (command + P) and select “SSU 24hr Printer”

Windows 10

  1. Open the Start Menu. Select Settings->Devices
  2. Click Add a Printer or Add a Scanner
  3. Select "The printer that I want isn't listed"
  4. Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname ->Next
    • Device Type: TCP/IP Device
    • Hostname: ssuprint.sonoma.edu
  5. Uncheck Query the printer
  6. Select Custom->Click Settings
  7. Change:
    • Protocol to: LPR
    • Queue name to: Laptop24q
    • Check "LPR Byte Counting Enabled"->OK->Next
  8. Select:
    • Manufacturer: HP
    • Printers: HP LaserJet P3011/P3015 PCL6 Class Driver->Next
  9. Printer Name: SSU 24hr Printer->Next
  10. Do not share this printer->Next->Finish
  11. Print your document and Select Printer "SSU 24hr Printer"

Windows 7

  1. Open the Start Menu and select Control Panel
  2. Select Devices and Printers
  3. Add a Printer->Add a Local Printer
  4. Create a new port->Type of port: Standard TCP/IP Port->Next
    • Hostname: ssuprint.sonoma.edu->Next
  5. Select Custom then click Settings
    • Change Protocol to LPR
    • Queue Name: Laptop24q
    • Check "LPR Byte Counting Enabled"->OK->Next
  6. Select:
    • Manufacturer: HP
    • Printer: HP LaserJet P3011/P3015 PCL6->Next
  7. Printer Name: SSU 24hr Printer->Next
  8. Do not share printer
  9. Finish
  10. Print your document and select printer "SSU 24hr Printer"
