Individual and Department YouTube Channels

Every SSU employee and student has access to YouTube for publishing videos.  Departments can also use YouTube to publish videos belonging to the department.

Individuals

Videos uploaded to an individual's account belong to that individual, and are the responsibility of the individual.  Videos used for course materials, sharing with other students, or display on SSU public-facing websites must meet accessibility requirements (captioning or descriptions).

When an individual separates from the university (e.g. graduation, clearing campus, etc.) the YouTube channel and all its videos will eventually be deleted.

  1. Login to Online Services with your Seawolf account.
  2. Click Gmail or Google Drive.
  3. Click the Apps button and then YouTube in the drop-down menu.
  4. Follow the instructions in YouTube to upload and publish video content, create playlists, and configure your channel.

Departments

Videos uploaded to a Department channel belong to the department, and are the responsibility of the department.  Videos used for department websites, or display on SSU public-facing websites, or other digital distribution must meet accessibility requirements (captioning or descriptions).

  1. Login to Online Services with the Department's office email account.  If you don't have a Department office email account, contact the IT Help Desk.
  2. Click Gmail or Google Drive.
  3. Click the Apps button and then YouTube in the drop-down menu.
  4. Follow the instructions in YouTube to upload and publish video content, create playlists, and configure your channel.

Videos in a Department channel are not effected when an employee who maintains the channel separates from the university (e.g. graduation, clearing campus, etc.).  The responsibility for maintaining a Department channel can be given to a different department employee.
