Associate CIO of Digital Transformation
Amanda McGowan is the Associate Chief Information Officer & Director of the Project Management Office and IT Governance in Sonoma State University’s Information Technology department. In her current position, Amanda serves as the second-in-command and the chief operating officer of the IT organization, responsible for the design, development, release and maintenance of technology systems and services. She also supports the IT team in ongoing development of project management strategies and provides guidance to the Project Coordinators at SSU. She also provides support to leadership to help advance SSU’s strategic goals and objectives.
McGowan has over 25 years of experience in higher education, including the UC, Community College, and CSU systems, with 20 of those years being at Sonoma State University. She has experience with implementing ERP systems and systems integrations, with a focus on the areas of Advising and Student Success. She recently completed the Executive Program in Strategy and Organization from Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner.
McGowan is an alumni of UC Santa Cruz, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology where she was a member of the Psi Chi Psychology Honors Society.
