Michael Nelson

Mike is a member of the Storage & Virtualization team. The team is responsible for centralized data storage systems on campus as well as the on-premise and hosted virtualization platforms. Our team provides highly redundant and highly available resources that system administrators use to provide services to end users on and off campus. We also manage the physical infrastructure in the data center on campus.

Mike graduated from Sonoma State in 2008 with a degree in Criminal Justice and has been employed at the university since that time. For 7 years Mike did end-user desktop support on campus, helped manage the computer labs and technology enabled classrooms, as well as managing all of the Apple computers on-campus. Since then Mike has worked on the Storage & Virtualization team.

Mike is a father and husband and has lived in the area since 2003. His wife works at the Children’s School on-campus and his son attends there as well. He enjoys baseball, cycling, hiking, camping, and cooking.
